MENLO PARK, Calif., Sept. 10, 2019

Selected by The Editorial Team 🙂

Almost all respondents agreed how someone dresses for the job interview is significant: 52% reported it’s very important, and 42% said it’s at least somewhat important. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the research also shows recommended job interview attire varies by industry: Suits are more often preferred in finance, insurance and real estate (46%) than construction (28%) or retail (26%).

Additional findings

  • Cities where you should suit up: Miami, New York and Washington, D.C. (54% each) have the highest percentage of managers who said a suit should always be worn to job interviews.
  • Smart casual cities: Phoenix (45%), Minneapolis (43%) and Charlotte (42%) have the most managers who said whether a suit should be worn to a job interview depends on the position or department at the company. Austin and Seattle (32% each) are the top markets where a suit may not be necessary if the candidate looks professional.
  • Size matters in suiting up: At least 40% of managers at companies with more than 250 employees prefer candidates wear a suit to job interviews. In comparison, 31% of managers at organizations with 20 to 99 employees expect to see applicants don formal wear.

SOURCE Accountemps

While casual dress codes are gaining ground in the workplace, job applicants shouldn’t put away their power suits just yet, according to new research from global staffing firm Accountemps. In a survey of senior managers, 37% of respondents said candidates should always wear a formal suit when interviewing for a job. A similar percentage (36%) felt proper interview attire depends on the position or department at the company.

Workforce Management Startup, SINC Raises Funds From MENA Investors, Targets Customers in North America

MANAMA (Bahrain), Aug. 28, 2019

Selected by The Editorial Team 🙂

One of the main problems facing blue-collar small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is that with labor costs growing exponentially compared to revenue, the accurate analysis of such data can be difficult and traditional timesheets may result in employers overpaying staff. Furthermore, payroll administration tasks can consume up to 20% of the business owner’s time and staff scheduling systems can be complex to manage.

Overcoming such issues, the SINC mobile app or web platform improves the reporting on staff tardiness and no-shows, as well as improving productivity and accountability with job costing analysis capabilities being placed at employer’s fingertips. Additionally, the application reduces payroll administration time by 98% and reduces payroll costs by 10-15%.

SINC is built with mobility and convenience in mind as the mobile app allows human resources management and staff to undertake their in-office functions on-the-go.

SINC has ambitious targets, looking to initially expand its presence and customer base across North America, targeting a sizeable portion of the estimated 1.5 million small blue-collar businesses in that geography. The company then seeks to develop tailor-made solutions for the ever-growing and unique labor environment in the MENA region.

Sam Dolbel presenting the SINC platform to the startup investor community
SINC , a Bahrain based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) mobile platform that simplifies the management of a mobile workforce by operating timesheets, location tracking, staff scheduling, and job tracking, has raised US$250,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Dubai Angel Investors and other prominent regional angel investors. The funds will be used in the short-term to expand SINC’s development team and build out the job tracking functionalities that small businesses in North America desperately need.

U.S. supermarket wines are catching up with European counterparts

NEW YORK (USA), Aug. 27, 2019

Selected by The Editorial Team 🙂

The award-winning wines were:

From Costco: Kirkland Signature Bordeaux Supérieur 2016 (Bordeaux, $10), best quality; Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco NV (Italy, $10). best value.

From Trader Joe’s: Trader Joe’s organic Grower’s Reserve Merlot 2017 (California, $5), best quality; Trader Joe’s Platinum Reserve Pinot Noir 2017 (Russian River Valley, $15), best quality.

From Aldi US: Evanta Malbec 2017 (Argentina, $4), best value; Scarlet Path Zinfandel 2017 (Lodi, $8), best quality; Outlander Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 (Paso Robles, $9), best quality.

This is the best performance ever recorded for wines sold exclusively by U.S. supermarkets, more than doubling the number of 2018 winners. The showing demonstrates that U.S. private label wines continue to get closer to their European counterparts in terms of value and quality – especially among wines costing less than $15. This matters because wines that are sold exclusively by European supermarkets have long been considered among the best wine in the world at combining those two things.
